The Body in the Barn

A MURDER TO KICK OFF THE SEASON

Bad Kleinkirchheim—Ski World Cup and winterly Eldorado, popular especially with Italians. An idyllic place with hotspot ambitions! If only a dead body hadn’t marred the beautiful picture just before the season kickoff.
Chief Inspector Wendelin Kerschbaumer from Vienna has dedicated his winter holidays to his diet in order to get rid of the extra weight left over from his divorce. And the murder of a young Slovenian woman does not fit with his plans at all. Serenity and diet aside, he is forced to deal not only with the dead woman’s shady relatives and an overzealous journalist but also with the quarrels within the local hotel industry. Always bolstered by the excellent local cuisine, he gets to the bottom of things and realizes that not even Bad Kleinkirchheim is safe from the evils of greed.
Bad Kleinkirchheim is full of humor, human abysses and culinarily highlights—and not even hosts of holidaying Italians or a murder can ruffle the idyll!

»The Body in the Stable impresses with a combination of humor, a pinch of suspense and a certain literary outlandishness.«

»Stefan Maiwald is known for setting his crime novels in real places. You could virtually use them as travel or restaurant guides as well.«
